n2pdf - PDF your Notes

SoftVision Development releases Beta version of a completely new product to create structured PDF files

What is n2pdf?
n2pdf is an export filter for Lotus Notes, which allows the creation of e.g. structured PDF files. The filter allows the controlled creation of PDF documents that may consist of documents, parts of documents or individual rich-text fields. You have complete control over the structure and all the configurable properties of the resulting PDF file.

How does n2pdf work?
Existing Notes documents or rich-text fields are converted to the rich-text format by use of a special export filter. The individual elements may then be combined to a single document in any desired sequence. The resulting document may also contain freely definable variables, which will be replaced automatically. The contents of the variables may be unformatted text or Notes rich text content. In the next step, the document structure, consisting of such elements as i.e. the table of contents, the index, internal links or bookmarks is created. Before the final creation of the PDF file, the PDF properties, such as e.g. the security preferences, may be defined and set. All this is n2pdf functionality that may be controlled via Lotus Script programming in the Domino Designer, thus end-users may simply use the integration provided to them.

What can n2pdf be used for?
n2pdf was designed and created to allow the conversion of structured Notes data (i.e. user manuals, product catalogues or ISO documentations) to the PDF format. In addition the product is ideally suited for the archiving of Notes contents. Thanks to the creation of a structured output, Notes documents may be optimized for the transmission via e.g. fax gateways. In general, Notes content is made available in a platform independent format, thus making it available to non-Notes users.

Where do I find a test version for n2pdf?
