Questions and answers to n2pdf
The following frequently asked questions are meant to provide a quick reference to answer some n2pdf related questions. If you cannot find the answer to the question you have, simply contact our support (support@n2pdf.com).
Who makes the software?
The SoftVision Development GmbH makes the products NotesToPaper and n2pdf.
Are there training sessions to the software?
Yes, there are standard courses we offer, together with our training partners. Information and dates can be found here.
Are there workshops to the software?
Yes. Should you be interested, send a mail with the word "Workshop" in the subject line and your contact info to sales@softvision.de and we will be in contact with you asap.
Where can I see the product "live"?
We visit a number of trade shows and other events. We also provide roadshows all year round. Information can be found here.
Do you offer presentations for clients?
Yes. Simply contact us under sales@softvision.de and we can schedule an appointment for a live or an online presentation.
What does n2pdf cost?
The prices can be found here. Prices for multi-user/multi-server licenses upon request (sales@softvision.de).
How can I purchase/order the software?

Is there a hard copy demo version?
Yes. Send an eMail with you postal address to sales@softvision.de. We will then send you free product information, including the demo CD by regular mail.
Which payment methods are possible?
We deliver our software electronically after receiving clearance from our credit insurance. We may ask for prepayment for first time customers.
How do I receive the software?
Standard delivery is via eMail. A mail will contain your license information as well as a special download link for customers.
How fast do I receive my software?
As a rule of thumb, the delivery will be within 24 hours of the receipt of the order, provided all necessary information is provided.
Can I return software licenses or trade one product for another?
No. A return of software is not possible.
How can I download a product/upgrade?
This website has a restricted area, which is available only to customers. The delivery eMail contains the access code (and the link) to this restricted area. Should you have misplaced your access code, simply send us a quick eMail (sales@softvision.de).
I would like to resell n2pdf to one of my customers. Is that possible?
If you are interested in reselling our products, send a quick eMail (sales@softvision.de) with your contact information and the word "Reseller" in the subject line.
Is there an OEM license of n2pdf?
Yes. Please contact our sales department at sales@softvision.de.
In which languages is n2pdf available?
n2pdf is available in German and English at the moment.
Can I buy an update from a previous version to the current version?
If you are the licensee of the previous version, then yes you can. If not, then please contact us directly to clarify any questions.
I have purchased your software via a reseller, but would like to contact your support directly. Is that possible?
Yes. We do not discriminate where a license was purchased. We will help you with problems concerning sales, support or any question of a more general nature.
Will I receive free software updates?
Updates contain new functionality and are added value, are thus chargeable. We discriminate between minor and major updates, the prices can be found in our current pricelist. Free updates are available to all customers that have closed a subscription for the product in question.
Will I receive free patches or bugfixes?
Yes. Patches and bugfixing are part of your license. We do not charge for these.
What differences are there between demo and full versions of n2pdf?
All of our products are available as demo versions. These versions do not technically differ from the commercially available full versions, with the main exception of the 30 day limitation. Demo versions can be "unlocked" by entering a full version key.
Can n2pdf be integrated to any Lotus Notes database?
Yes. n2pdf can be integrated into any database with an open design that you have access to. An integration is performed by a developer and is then used by your end-users.

How large (MB) is an2pdf installation?
The installation routine of n2pdf is approx. 35 MBytes in size.
What should I do if an error occurred while downloading?
An interrupted download may have been caused by a multitude of reasons (loss of an internet connection, server problems, etc.) Please simply restart the download in order to receive the desired product.
I have downloaded the product but cannot find it on my PC.
In order to find a downloaded file, it is helpful to observe the target directory in the "save as" window which is show when a download is initiated. After the download has begun and you have selected your options, you see this "save as" window that lets you define where a file is to be saved.
I have reinstalled my PC/operating system. Will my registration key become invalid?
No. You registration key remains valid. Re-install the software and enter your existing key.
I do not know how to use the software. Where can I find the technical documentation?
Our products target groups are developers or very experienced Notes users. You will need fundamental knowledge in using Notes, the Domino Designer and the Notes technology. If you have performed a standard installation, then you will find a link to the n2pdf help in the n2pdf program group of your windows start menu.
I have installed the program, but cannot seem to find it anywhere!
If you have used n2pdfs standard Install Shield installation routine to perform the installation, then all you need to do is access your Windows start menu. There you will find a program group "n2pdf". The runtime environment of n2pdf is not independently executable. To execute the runtime environment, please open one of the Notes databases in the program group and press the "n2pdf" button.
Where is n2pdf installed?
n2pdf is installed to the Notes directory (e.g. C:\Notes). The Notes directory contains the main program part, the "NOTES.EXE". The sample databases for n2pdf are saved to the Notes data directory (e.g. C:\Notes\Data). This directory contains the local database "NAMES.NSF" as well as all the local templates ("*.NTF") of the client. Both directories must be set during the installation.
Which access rights must a user have in order to be able to work with n2pdf?
In order to run the InstallShield installation routine, you must have administrator rights on the machine the installation is being performed on. After the initial installation, "normal" user access is sufficient. The same level of access rights that you use to perform your daily routine. The uninstall also requires administrator rights. |
